SIM São Paulo has a Gaucho Evening with Cartolas, Wannabe Jalva and Catavento

While the daytime activities of the São Paulo Music Week take place at the Centro Cultural São Paulo, the evening program is spread throughout many music venues in town. Representatives from Brazil’s southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul (where locals are known as “gauchos”) have organized a commission in order to fully leverage the fourth edition of the music convention. Can you guess the outcome? In addition to the roundtable discussions, showcases and business rounds, they decided to organize a Gaucho Evening, where the musicians from Rio Grande do Sul can present their work. The gauchilicious event will take place on December 9th, Friday, at Z Carniceria.

After three studio albums and many, many miles on the road, the band Cartolas was chosen to perform at the event. The quartet is formed by Dé Silveira (guitar and vocals), Mariano Wortmann (bass and vocals), Christiano Todt (guitar) and Pedro Petracco (drums and vocals), and it will perform its most recent album Apavorando o Flashdance. It includes 11 brand new tracks immersed in British rock and melodies that you’ll be whistling all day.

Wannabe Jalva is another highlight. The group – which is formed by Felipe Puperi (keyboard, guitar and vocals), Rafael Rocha (guitar and MPC) and Tiago Abrahão (bass and synthesizers) – is going through a new phase, which includes a song in Portuguese, entitled “Mareá”, with the artist Curumin. Hitherto their repertoire was entirely in English.

Straight from the city of Caxias do Sul, the band Catavento will intoxicate the evening with a touch of Gaucho psychedelia. They will perform songs from the recently launched album CHA. Members include Leo Rech (guitar and vocals), Leo Lucena (guitar, bass and vocals), Du Panozzo (bass, guitar and vocals), Johnny Boaventura (keyboard and vocals), Lucas Bustince (drums) e Francisco Maffei (keyboard and vocals).

The Gaucho Evening is brought to you by Marquise 51, supported by Sebrae Rio Grande do Sul, the label Honey Bomb and the agency Tomate Maravilha.
