SIM 2019's Opening Party reinforces the power and diversity of collectives

Tradition among the accredited delegates, the opening night of SIM São Paulo is a moment of reunion and the beggining of new connections. Besides welcoming the participants, coming from all over Brazil and the world, with a nice networking cocktail, the party shows trends of brazilian production and gives a hint of what the conference days will be about, debating innovations and challenges of the market.

In 2019, on December 4th (Wednesday), at 8:00pm, SIM brings to Cine Joia three collectives that have been changing the brazilian music, showing that celebrating is also an artistic movement and an act of resistance. Bloco da Laje, BATEKOO and Bandida brings special guests to the Opening Night of SIM 2019 and celebrate respect to diversity and the power of affection as a tool of making a better world.

The night starts in a partying mood with Bloco da Laje. The group built an authorial scenic, musical and carnivalized work, inspired by popular culture and the composition of its songs. Their aesthetic originates from the improv, joy and meetings. They invite the musician, songwriter, producer, researcher and legend of the amazonian music Manoel Cordeiro.

Afterwards, the collective BATEKOO runs the night. Created in 2014, in Salvador, it started like an unpretentious party and ended up becoming an important manifest of black and LGBTQIA+ movement that took over Brazil. Wrapped in exclusively black rhythms like hip-hop, rap, funk carioca, R&B, trap, twerk, kuduro, and its branches, the collective of young people from the outskirts value diversity and empowers minorities. They invite MC Tha to the stage. Artist from Cidade Tiradentes (Eastern Zone of São Paulo), promotes a dialogue between popular music and brazilian funk, with Umbanda as a central point of her work.

Ending the night, Bandida takes over Cine Joia. A collective that since 2016 imposes gender equality and feminine protagonism at São Paulo's parties, brings DJ BADSISTA, winner of WME Awards 2018 as best music producer and is considered the "new favorite DJ" by vehicles like Crack Magazine, Fact, Fader, and Red Bull Music. Jup do Bairro also performs. She recently released the single "Corpo Sem Juízo" with production of BAD.

SIM SÃO PAULO 2019 is sponsored by Mastercard, Budweiser and Oi, supported by Oi Futuro and Calvin Klein and promises to shake São Paulo up in its five days of event with a program of over 400 concerts in almost 50 music venues of the city, and artists coming from all over Brazil and the world.
